Dynamite Stakes Winner From Dynamite Supervisor Pete Axemaker, Granger, WA
(Washington Thoroughbred - November 1998)
Jim Hill and Dennis Ward's Bay Runner, the multiple stakes winner now based in California, used his rare speed to garner his fourth stakes race by running off to win the $27,100 WTBA Yakima Futurit;y by one and three-quarter lengths on October 25, 1998.
Supplemented into the race, Bay Runner broke alertly and immediately established a clear lead which he held to the wire in front of Charlie Landells' Naab the Win, by Alnaab. It was another eight and one-half lengths back to Mr. and Mrs. Ray Johnson's P. J.'s Clipper.
Bay Runner earned $13,415 for the victory under Vicky Aragon, bringing his career earnings to $86,525. He had previously won stakes at Bay Meadows and Santa Rosa after capturing the Captain Condo Stakes at Emerald Downs. Ben Harris saddled Bay Runner, a son of Key to the Carr which was bred by Pete Axemaker in Washington. Time for the six furlongs was a rapid 1:09 2/5.
"Bay Runner has been on Dynamite® his whole life!" said Pete Axemaker.
